The SM300m is quite a recent style stream by Omega standards, but in the latest version, it reaches, for my taste, a sort of perfection. There are things I would change, but they are minor. The ceramic dial is gorgeous, with the subtle wave pattern. All the details are where you would want them. I'd say the key here is the 'first luxury watch'. I voted Blue for a couple of reasons: 1) It's the colour that is linked most with the 2531.80 original mechanical Bond, so it looks the most 'iconic' to a man on a galloping horse. 2) The blue is surprisingly versatile when it comes to dressing up and down. The Seamaster 300M is a great watch; however, it still has a modified generic movement vs. an in house movement like the Sub. The Speedmaster line is what drove me to Omega in the first place, not the Seamaster.
My advice: buy yourself a beautiful Omega Seamaster 300m now and and enjoy it! Why deprive yourself of the watch you have “wanted for many years”? You could be wearing it right now. The original Seamaster Professional Diver 300M is, without a doubt, one of the most important models in Omega history, and arguably the single most influential contemporary Omega. The decision to overhaul it from the ground up, therefore, was not one to be taken lightly.
